Research and Development Project Controller
Nordic Investin is recruiting a Research and Development Project Controller on behalf of one of our partner companies. You see finance as both a decision and control function, combining accuracy with the curiosity to turn numbers into action.
The partner is strengthening its capability in financial control for long-term research and product-development portfolios. You will take responsibility for work that connects project accounting, forecasts and earned value, while ensuring that grants and capitalisation receive appropriate discipline. The objective is progress that colleagues can use and leaders can evaluate.
Finance values dependable reporting, strong controls and constructive partnership. Success means better decisions, fewer surprises and trusted information.
How you will work
You will work close to the stakeholders responsible for revenue, cost, projects or operations. The partner expects you to test assumptions, explain uncertainty and translate analysis into a small number of useful actions. Credibility will come from both financial discipline and curiosity about the business.
This role calls for subject-matter depth and practical ownership. You will be expected to recognise when a decision needs wider expertise, make trade-offs visible and move work forward without creating unnecessary process.
What you will do
Own the practical direction for financial control for long-term research and product-development portfolios.
Translate goals and constraints into a clear approach for project accounting and forecasts.
Establish useful standards, routines or artefacts around earned value.
Coordinate stakeholders and dependencies affecting grants.
Use evidence and measurable outcomes to improve capitalisation.
Strengthen knowledge sharing, decision quality and sustainable ownership across the team.
What you will bring
Relevant experience delivering financial control for long-term research and product-development portfolios in a demanding environment.
Strong working knowledge of project accounting and forecasts.
Practical experience applying earned value and grants.
Ability to assess risk, priorities and trade-offs involving capitalisation.
Evidence of clear stakeholder communication and dependable end-to-end ownership.
Professional English and the judgement to work with sensitive or business-critical information.
Experience that would add value
Experience from life sciences, engineering or advanced technology.
Exposure to governance in a cross-functional environment.
Swedish language skills or experience working across Nordic organisations.
A background that can succeed here
Your background may be group finance, operations, audit, advisory or a growing business. Show the controls and decisions you owned and the outcome. Direct experience of financial control for long-term research and product-development portfolios is valuable, while adjacent experience counts when it shows transferable judgement.
What makes the opportunity interesting
The role combines professional depth with meaningful business questions and room to improve the processes behind the numbers. The focus on financial control for long-term research and product-development portfolios gives the role a clear mission and room to influence priorities and measures of success.
The exact partner, employment model, compensation, start date and working arrangement will be explained openly during the process. Nordic Investin will make sure you understand the opportunity before asking you to make a decision.
The recruitment conversation
Nordic Investin will focus on decisions you have made: the context, alternatives, result and what you would change today. You will also have room to test whether the role and partner environment are right for you.
How to apply
Apply with your CV or LinkedIn profile and a short note about a relevant financial process, decision or transformation you improved. Nordic Investin welcomes different routes into the profession and assesses evidence, judgement and potential alongside titles.
